ECHS Jobs 2026: Contractual vacancies open across multiple stations

ECHS Jobs 2026: Contractual vacancies open across multiple stations

For many ex-servicemen, retirement from uniform does not mean retirement from responsibility. Many veterans still want to work, stay active and serve in an environment where discipline, experience and service culture are valued.

SWN 08

This is why ECHS contractual vacancies matter.

The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme has listed station-wise contractual appointment notices on its official website. These vacancies are linked with ECHS Polyclinics and related station requirements. They are not permanent government recruitment posts. They are contractual appointments, and candidates must read the station-wise notice carefully before applying.

For ex-servicemen, medical professionals, paramedical staff and non-medical candidates, this is a useful employment update because multiple stations have visible vacancy notices with different last dates and interview schedules.

What is the latest ECHS vacancy update?

ECHS has an official page for “Vacancies for Contractual Appointments.” The page lists vacancy notices by Regional Centre and station. It also shows the last date for receipt of application and interview details wherever available.

The important point is that these vacancies are station-wise. There is no single combined application for all ECHS vacancies across India. A candidate must check the relevant station notice, download the official application form, verify eligibility and submit the form before the last date mentioned in that particular notice.

This is especially important because the post, qualification, age condition, interview date and document requirement can differ from one station to another.

Why this update matters for ex-servicemen?

ECHS is directly connected with the ex-servicemen community. It provides healthcare support to eligible veterans and dependents through ECHS Polyclinics, military hospitals and empanelled hospitals.

When ECHS Polyclinics hire staff, many posts become relevant for retired Armed Forces personnel. In several categories, ECHS rules also provide reservation for ex-servicemen.

For a retired soldier, such a vacancy can offer work in a familiar defence welfare environment. For medical and paramedical candidates, it can become a way to serve the veteran community directly. For non-medical candidates, local ECHS vacancies may provide practical employment opportunities near cantonments or military stations.

These are contractual appointments, not permanent jobs

This point should be understood clearly.

ECHS contractual vacancies should not be treated as permanent government recruitment. The official application form and terms indicate that contractual employment is generally for a fixed period, subject to performance and conduct review.

Contractual employees are also not entitled to the allowances, financial benefits and concessions available to regular government employees.

So the correct understanding is:

ECHS has listed contractual appointment vacancies across stations. Eligible candidates should check the official station-wise notice before applying.

Stations where vacancy notices are visible

The official ECHS vacancy page shows multiple active or recent entries across several Regional Centres and stations. Visible examples include Bareilly, Chandimandir, Chennai, Jalandhar, Jammu, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Ranchi, Visakhapatnam and Yol Cantt.

Some notices have last dates in late June 2026, while others extend into July 2026. Interview dates are mentioned in some notices, while some entries state that the interview date will be intimated later.

Candidates should not depend only on a list shared on social media. The official ECHS page should be checked before applying because vacancy notices can be updated or replaced.

What kind of posts can appear in ECHS vacancies?

ECHS contractual vacancies can include different types of posts depending on the station requirement.

Common categories may include Officer-in-Charge, Medical Officer, Dental Officer, Specialist, Pharmacist, Nursing Assistant, Lab Technician, Dental Assistant, Clerk, Data Entry Operator, Driver, Female Attendant, Chowkidar, Safaiwala and other support staff.

The exact post list is not the same everywhere. One station may need medical staff, another may need paramedical staff, while a third may advertise non-medical support posts.

That is why every candidate should open the specific station notice and check the post name, number of vacancies, qualification, experience and age limit.

ESM reservation in ECHS contractual employment

ECHS FAQ gives important information about reservation for ex-servicemen in contractual employment.

The reservation mentioned is:

Officer-in-Charge Polyclinic: 100% for ex-servicemen
Medical Staff: 60%
Para Medical Staff: 70%
Non-Medical Staff: 70%

This is one of the strongest reasons why ECHS vacancies are important for the veteran community.

However, reservation does not mean automatic selection. The candidate still has to meet the qualification, experience, age and document requirements mentioned in the vacancy notice.

Age limits and eligibility

ECHS FAQ also provides broad age limits for employment in ECHS Polyclinics.

The general age references include Officer-in-Charge up to 65 years, Medical Officers up to 68 years, certain Specialists up to 70 years, Dental Officers up to 65 years, Para Medical Staff up to 58 years and Non-Medical Staff up to 55 years.

These are broad reference points. Candidates must still check the latest station-wise notice because eligibility may depend on post category, professional qualification, experience, registration and local requirement.

How to apply for ECHS contractual vacancies?

The application process starts with the official station notice.

Candidates should first visit the ECHS official vacancy page and open the relevant station PDF. After that, they should download the application form and read the conditions carefully.

The general process is:

Visit the official ECHS website.
Open the station-wise vacancy notice.
Check post, eligibility, age and qualification.
Download and fill the application form.
Attach required documents.
Submit the application before the last date.
Appear for interview with original documents if called.

This simple process can save candidates from common mistakes.

Documents candidates should keep ready

Before applying, candidates should keep their documents ready. Missing papers can create difficulty at the application or interview stage.

Commonly required documents may include:

Application form
Aadhaar card
PAN card
10th certificate
12th certificate
Graduation certificate
Diploma or professional degree
Experience certificate
Medical or Dental Council registration, if applicable
Driving licence, if applying for driver post
PPO, discharge book and ESM identity card for ex-servicemen
Passport-size photograph
Original documents for interview verification

The final list should always be checked from the station-wise notice because requirements may differ by post.

Mistakes applicants should avoid

Candidates should avoid applying in a hurry.

Do not treat these vacancies as permanent government recruitment.

Do not apply without reading the station-wise notice.

Do not assume the same post is available at every ECHS station.

Do not miss the last date.

Do not send incomplete documents.

Do not ignore professional registration requirements for medical posts.

Do not assume selection is guaranteed because the applicant is an ex-serviceman.

Do not rely only on WhatsApp forwards or screenshots.

The official notice is the final reference for each vacancy.

Why defence families should share this update?

Many ex-servicemen live near cantonments, military stations and ECHS Polyclinics. A local contractual appointment can help a veteran remain active while staying connected to the defence welfare system.

This update is also useful for family members of veterans. Many times, eligible candidates miss opportunities because they do not check the official website regularly.

Families should help veterans download the correct form, check dates, arrange documents and submit the application on time.

Final view

ECHS Jobs 2026 is a practical employment update for the ex-servicemen community.

This is not a permanent recruitment drive, and it should not be presented as one. But it is still important because ECHS has officially listed contractual appointment notices across multiple stations.

Eligible candidates should immediately check the official ECHS vacancy page, open the station-wise notice, verify eligibility and submit the application before the last date.

For ex-servicemen and defence families, timely information is also welfare. A correct application at the right time can help a veteran continue a dignified second career inside a familiar defence healthcare environment.
