The Indian Army’s Northern Command has invited applications for a new 75-day internship programme for 2026–27, offering young students and innovators an opportunity to work on defence-related technology and practical projects.
The programme will be conducted at Udhampur, Srinagar and Leh, with applications closing on 5 November 2026. The internship is scheduled to begin on 1 December 2026.
Northern Command has designed the programme to give participants practical exposure while allowing them to work on technology-driven solutions that may support the Army’s operational and technological requirements.
Which fields are available?
The internship covers several modern and specialised areas, including:
This means the opportunity is not restricted only to one branch of engineering. Different projects may require different academic and professional backgrounds.
How will the 75-day internship work?
The programme consists of:
15 days of online learning
followed by
60 days of physical internship
Selected interns will then work at Northern Command locations in Udhampur, Srinagar or Leh.
The focus is expected to be on practical learning, problem-solving and defence innovation rather than only classroom training.
How much stipend will interns receive?
The programme material states a stipend of ₹30,000 per month, which works out to ₹75,000 for the complete 75-day internship.
So applicants should understand the figure correctly:
₹75,000 is for the complete internship — not ₹75,000 per month.
Is this Indian Army recruitment?
No.
This is an internship and professional-learning programme, not recruitment into the Indian Army as a soldier or officer.
The official Indian Army Internship Portal describes the programme as an opportunity for students to gain practical exposure, develop professional skills, work on emerging technologies and contribute to defence innovation.
Completing the internship should therefore not be treated as a guarantee of a permanent Army job.
How to apply?
Candidates should use the AICTE National Internship Portal, which has a dedicated Indian Army Internship section.
The official portal allows students to view available Indian Army internship opportunities and register through the National Internship Portal.

Students should check the individual internship listing carefully because eligibility, required qualification and project-specific skills may differ from one opportunity to another.
Why is this opportunity important?
The programme gives students an unusual chance to work with the Indian Army on emerging technologies such as AI, drones, cyber security, robotics and defence electronics.
For young innovators and technology students, the combination of practical defence exposure, specialised projects and a paid internship makes this one of the more interesting Army-linked student opportunities currently available.
