DSC re-employment 2026: Ex-JCOs must report by 28 June!

For many retired JCOs, retirement from the Army does not mean the end of service. The uniform may be kept aside, but discipline, experience, responsibility and regimental pride remain alive.

This is why Defence Security Corps re-employment updates matter for ex-servicemen, especially for retired JCOs who are still fit, willing and eligible to continue serving in a disciplined environment.

WhatsApp Image 2026-06-06 at 15.57.09

A circulated notification attributed to The GRENADIERS Regimental Centre gives details about re-employment of Ex-JCOs, Subedar Majors and Subedars, into Defence Security Corps Course Serial No. J-108 for the recruiting year 2026-27.

The most important date in the notification is the reporting date.

As per the notification image, candidates are required to report to The GRENADIERS Regimental Centre on 28 June 2026 positively, and the interview-cum-selection panel is scheduled to be conducted from 29 June 2026 onwards.

The re-orientation course mentioned in the notification is scheduled from 17 August 2026 to 12 September 2026.

This is not just another job update. For eligible retired JCOs, it can be a second-career opportunity linked with the military system they already understand.

Why this update matters for retired JCOs?

A retired JCO carries years of experience in command, discipline, administration, man-management and unit life. Many such veterans still have the physical ability and mental readiness to serve after retirement.

The Defence Security Corps gives eligible ex-servicemen a chance to continue in a structured security role, where their military discipline and experience are useful.

But opportunities like this are time-sensitive. If a retired JCO misses the reporting date, eligibility verification or documentation process, the chance may be lost even if he is otherwise suitable.

That is why this update should be read carefully and shared responsibly among eligible ex-JCOs.

What does the notification say?

The notification is from The GRENADIERS Regimental Centre, PIN 908775, c/o 56 APO.

The subject mentioned in the image is:

Re-employment of Ex-JCOs, Sub Maj and Sub into DSC Course Ser No. J-108 for the recruiting year 2026-27, scheduled from 17 Aug 2026 to 12 Sep 2026.

The letter states that the interview-cum-selection panel for re-employment of Ex-JCOs into DSC in respect of the Regimental Centre will be conducted from 29 June 2026 onwards.

Candidates are required to report to the Regimental Centre on 28 June 2026 positively.

This means eligible candidates should not treat 29 June as the reporting date. The reporting date mentioned is 28 June 2026, while the selection process begins from 29 June onwards.

Who is eligible?

As per the notification image, Ex-JCOs who retired within the last two years are eligible, subject to age and qualification conditions.

The age condition is calculated as on the first day of commencement of the re-orientation course, which is 17 August 2026.

The image mentions the following age limits:

Subedar Major: up to 52 years
Subedar: up to 50 years

This is an important detail because age is not being checked casually. It is connected with the commencement date of the re-orientation course.

The education condition mentioned in the notification says the Ex-JCO should be matriculate or qualified in:

ACE-I Hindi
or
AEC-III English, matric or equivalent

Eligible candidates should verify these requirements through their Records Office, Zila Sainik Board, Rajya Sainik Board or concerned regimental channel before travelling.

Why record verification is important?

The notification says an Ex-JCO must secure a minimum of 40 percent marks based on his Record of Service, which is calculated by The GRENADIERS Records.

This is an important point.

Selection is not only about reporting physically at the centre. Record verification is a necessary step. The notification says pre-verification rolls of Ex-JCOs may be forwarded to The GRENADIERS Records in triplicate for necessary action.

It also says Ex-JCOs will be permitted to participate in the interview-cum-selection panel only after receipt of eligibility approval from The GRENADIERS Records.

This means candidates should not ignore the paperwork. Even if a candidate is physically fit and within the age limit, he may not be allowed to participate unless eligibility approval is received.

What physical test is mentioned?

The notification mentions Combined Physical Test, or CPT, as applicable to Army personnel based on the physical test guidelines laid down.

Candidates entitled to be tested under CPT will be tested for re-enrolment into DSC as per their age.

This means candidates should not assume that the process is only document-based. Physical fitness and the required test standards may be part of the process.

Ex-JCOs planning to report should prepare practically. They should check their health, fitness and medical readiness before attending.

What should candidates carry?

The notification image advises candidates to bring the following items during the rally:

Combat Dress
Boot DMS
T-shirt
Half or Full Pant
PT Shoes
Mufti dress

This list should not be ignored. Reporting without proper dress or required items can create avoidable difficulty.

Candidates should also carry their service-related documents, identity proof, discharge documents, pension papers, record-related papers, photographs and any communication received from Records Office or the regimental channel.

Since the image does not show the full document checklist, candidates should verify the complete document requirement before travel.

Why this should not be treated like a normal private job?

DSC re-employment is different from ordinary private security employment.

It is linked with military discipline, record verification, age criteria, physical testing, re-orientation course and official service channels.

A retired JCO who wants to join DSC must approach it with the same seriousness with which he handled service matters during active Army life.

The process is not only about willingness. It is about eligibility, records, physical fitness, documentation and approval from the concerned Records Office.

What should eligible Ex-JCOs do now?

Eligible Ex-JCOs should first verify the notification through official or regimental channels.

They should contact:

The GRENADIERS Records
Concerned Records Office
Zila Sainik Board
Rajya Sainik Board
Regimental Centre contact channel
DSC-related official Army/ESM channel, wherever available

After verification, candidates should confirm:

Whether they retired within the eligible period
Whether they meet the age limit as on 17 August 2026
Whether they meet the education requirement
Whether their Record of Service marks meet the requirement
Whether pre-verification rolls have been forwarded
Whether eligibility approval has been received
Whether they are medically and physically ready for CPT
Whether they can report on 28 June 2026

This step-by-step approach is important because missing one requirement can affect participation.

Why families should also know this?

Many retired JCOs may be living away from their regimental centre or may not receive every update on time. Families can help by keeping documents ready, checking travel plans, ensuring the veteran is medically fit, and verifying the notification before he travels.

This is especially important because many circulated notifications on WhatsApp may be incomplete, cropped or forwarded without context. Before spending money on travel, the candidate should confirm the authenticity and applicability of the notification.

Important caution before publishing or sharing

This update is based on a circulated notification image attributed to The GRENADIERS Regimental Centre and matching secondary reports. I did not find the original official PDF hosted publicly on an Army, Ministry of Defence or DSC website during source checking.

Therefore, this article should not be framed as “official Army website notification released” unless the original Army-hosted PDF or direct official confirmation is available.

The safest wording is:

As per a circulated notification attributed to The GRENADIERS Regimental Centre…

This keeps the article useful while avoiding overclaiming.

Final takeaway

The DSC re-employment update for Ex-JCOs at The GRENADIERS Regimental Centre is a useful second-career opportunity for eligible retired Subedars and Subedar Majors.

The key points are clear:

Reporting date is 28 June 2026.
Interview-cum-selection begins from 29 June 2026 onwards.
Course Serial No. is J-108.
Re-orientation course is scheduled from 17 August 2026 to 12 September 2026.
Subedar Majors should be up to 52 years.
Subedars should be up to 50 years.
Record of Service marks and eligibility approval are important.
Combined Physical Test may apply.
Candidates must carry the required dress and verify documents before reporting.

For eligible Ex-JCOs, this is not just a vacancy notice. It is a chance to continue serving with discipline, dignity and purpose.

But before travelling, candidates must verify the notification through their official Records Office, Regimental Centre or Zila Sainik Board.
