ECHS Recruitment July–August 2026: New Regional vacancies, salaries, eligibility and application deadlines

Previously, Sainik Welfare News explained how contractual recruitment under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme works across different Regional Centres and ECHS polyclinics.

That earlier coverage clarified that ECHS vacancies are generally released through separate station-wise advertisements. These appointments are contractual and should not be confused with permanent Central Government jobs.

The official ECHS recruitment portal has now displayed a fresh group of employment notices with application deadlines extending from July into August 2026.

The latest notices cover medical, paramedical, administrative, driving and support appointments under Regional Centres such as Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Jammu, Mumbai, Yol Cantt, Kochi, Jalandhar, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam and Chandimandir.

This article does not repeat the general ECHS recruitment process already explained earlier.

Its purpose is to help ex-servicemen, widows, doctors, medical professionals and other eligible candidates understand:

  • which Regional Centres currently have notices;
  • how closing dates differ;
  • what types of posts may be available;
  • how remuneration varies;
  • who may apply;
  • how applications should be prepared; and
  • which mistakes can lead to rejection.

Applicants must remember that ECHS has not issued one combined all-India recruitment notification. Every Regional Centre advertisement is independent and may contain different vacancies, qualifications, experience requirements, age limits, reservation conditions, salaries, application addresses and interview schedules.

ECHS recruitment July–August 2026 at a glance

The following deadlines were displayed for different Regional Centre notices:

Regional CentreApplication deadlineInterview information

Ahmedabad — Notice 119 July 2026To be intimated
Ahmedabad — Notice 220 July 2026To be intimated

Mumbai20 July 202621 July 2026
Yol Cantt20 July 202623 July 2026
Kochi25 July 2026To be intimated
Jalandhar26 July 2026To be intimated

Bhubaneswar29 July 20266 August 2026
Visakhapatnam29 July 20266 August 2026
Chandimandir14 August 2026To be intimated

The table should be treated as a quick reference only.

Candidates must open the exact advertisement linked with their Regional Centre before preparing the application. A portal listing may be revised, removed or replaced, and some advertisements prescribe a specific cut-off time in addition to the last date.

What is new in the latest ECHS recruitment update?

The broader system of station-wise ECHS contractual appointments was already explained earlier.

The fresh value in this update comes from:

  • newly listed Regional Centre advertisements;
  • closing dates extending into August 2026;
  • separate notices issued under the same Regional Centre;
  • exact medical and non-medical requirements;
  • updated salaries and vacancy numbers;
  • interview dates for selected centres; and
  • notice-specific submission addresses.

Candidates should not reuse information from an older notice simply because the Regional Centre name is the same.

For example, two advertisements may be displayed under Ahmedabad while covering different polyclinics, posts, salaries and submission addresses.

An application prepared using the wrong advertisement may be rejected even when the candidate otherwise possesses the required qualification.

Which types of ECHS jobs are available?

The current notices collectively include medical, paramedical, administrative and support roles.

Depending on the Regional Centre and polyclinic, posts may include:

  • Officer-in-Charge Polyclinic;
  • Radiologist;
  • Medical Specialist;
  • Medical Officer;
  • Dental Officer;
  • Pharmacist;
  • Nursing Assistant;
  • Laboratory Assistant;
  • Laboratory Technician;
  • Dental Assistant, Technician or Hygienist;
  • Clerk or Data Entry Operator;
  • Driver;
  • Chowkidar;
  • Peon; and
  • Safaiwala.

Every post is not available at every location.

A candidate should first identify the Regional Centre and polyclinic, then verify whether the desired appointment is actually listed in that advertisement.

Which vacancies are listed under the Ahmedabad notices?

One Ahmedabad-linked notice covers vacancies at ECHS Polyclinics in Ajmer and Bhilwara.

The posts shown include:

PostLocation and vacanciesMaximum age shownMonthly remuneration
Dental OfficerAjmer — 163 years₹95,000
PharmacistAjmer — 156 years₹36,500
Nursing AssistantBhilwara — 156 years₹36,500
DriverAjmer — 153 years₹25,600
SafaiwalaAjmer — 153 years₹21,800

The Dental Officer appointment requires the prescribed BDS qualification and experience.

The Pharmacist and Nursing Assistant posts have their own qualification and professional-registration conditions. The Driver position requires the applicable licence and experience, while the Safaiwala appointment carries separate educational or service-trade requirements.

The application must reach the ECHS Cell specified in the notice by the prescribed deadline.

A separate Ahmedabad-linked advertisement covers ECHS Polyclinic Jaisalmer and lists appointments such as:

PostVacanciesMonthly remuneration
Pharmacist1₹36,500
Laboratory Technician1₹36,500
Clerk1₹29,200
Peon1₹21,800

Candidates must identify whether they are applying under the Ajmer–Bhilwara notice or the Jaisalmer notice.

Sending the application to the wrong Station Headquarters can invalidate an otherwise complete application.

What vacancy is available under Jammu Regional Centre?

The Jammu-linked advertisement concerns ECHS Polyclinic Udhampur.

It lists a contractual vacancy for:

Medical Officer

The notice prescribes conditions including:

  • MBBS qualification;
  • the required professional registration;
  • experience after internship;
  • preference for additional qualifications where stated; and
  • fixed monthly remuneration of ₹95,000.

The application must reach the designated ECHS Station Cell within the deadline and cut-off time mentioned in the advertisement.

Only eligible or shortlisted candidates are expected to be called for the interview.

This example shows why applicants should not assume that every Regional Centre notice contains a large number of posts. Some advertisements may be issued for one specialised vacancy only.

What does the Chandimandir notice include?

The Chandimandir-linked advertisement covers ECHS polyclinics at Ludhiana, Jagraon, Doraha and Samrala.

It contains a larger group of vacancies, including medical, paramedical and non-medical appointments.

Posts mentioned include:

  • Officer-in-Charge Polyclinic;
  • Radiologist;
  • Medical Specialist;
  • Medical Officer;
  • Dental Officer;
  • Laboratory Assistant;
  • Laboratory Technician;
  • Pharmacist;
  • Dental Assistant, Technician or Hygienist;
  • Driver;
  • Clerk or Data Entry Operator;
  • Chowkidar;
  • Peon; and
  • Safaiwala.

The advertisement separately indicates vacancies reserved for ex-servicemen and appointments shown under an open category.

Monthly remuneration ranges from support-staff rates to higher specialist remuneration, depending on the post.

The application must be submitted to the authority and address specified in the Chandimandir-linked advertisement before 14 August 2026.

What salaries are being offered?

ECHS contractual remuneration depends on the post and the individual advertisement.

Examples appearing in selected current notices include:

Post categoryMonthly remuneration shown
Radiologist or Medical SpecialistUp to ₹1,30,000
Medical Officer, Dental Officer or OIC Polyclinic₹95,000
Pharmacist, Lab Technician, Nursing Assistant or Dental Assistant category₹36,500
Clerk or Data Entry Operator₹29,200
Driver₹25,600
Peon, Chowkidar or Safaiwala₹21,800

These figures should not be treated as one universal ECHS salary structure.

The final remuneration must be verified against the exact post, polyclinic and advertisement selected by the candidate.

Are these permanent government jobs?

No.

The advertisements concern contractual appointments in ECHS polyclinics.

They should not be described as:

  • permanent Central Government employment;
  • regular Armed Forces appointments;
  • pensionable civil-service posts; or
  • jobs guaranteeing long-term continuation.

Contract duration may vary according to the notice, candidate category, financial year, maximum age, performance and renewal conditions.

Some advertisements may specify different initial tenures for ex-servicemen and civilian candidates.

The candidate must read the contract conditions printed in the relevant PDF.

Are all posts reserved for ex-servicemen?

No.

Reservation and eligibility vary from one advertisement to another.

A notice may show:

  • posts reserved for ex-servicemen;
  • vacancies where ex-servicemen receive preference;
  • open-category appointments;
  • vacancies open to eligible civilians; or
  • specific preference for widows, where mentioned.

A civilian candidate should not assume that a vacancy is open merely because the educational qualification matches.

Before applying, check:

  • whether the vacancy is reserved for ex-servicemen;
  • whether an open-category vacancy is available;
  • whether preference is given to widows;
  • whether an Armed Forces trade qualification is accepted;
  • whether a recognised civil qualification is compulsory; and
  • whether professional registration is required.
Who should examine the current ECHS notices?

The latest advertisements may be relevant to:

  • retired Armed Forces personnel seeking a second career;
  • ex-servicemen with medical, clerical, driving or technical trades;
  • doctors and medical specialists;
  • dental professionals;
  • pharmacists;
  • nursing personnel;
  • laboratory technicians;
  • former clerks and data-entry personnel;
  • drivers with the required licence and experience;
  • eligible civilian professionals where open vacancies exist; and
  • widows where the notice provides preference.

Matching the post title alone is not enough.

A candidate must satisfy the qualification, experience, age, reservation and registration requirements printed in the specific advertisement.

What qualifications are commonly required?

Qualifications differ significantly according to the appointment.

Examples include:

  • MBBS for Medical Officer;
  • MD, MS or DNB in the relevant discipline for specialist posts;
  • BDS for Dental Officer;
  • B Pharmacy or another accepted pharmacy qualification for Pharmacist;
  • DMLT or an approved Armed Forces laboratory qualification for laboratory posts;
  • GNM or a recognised Armed Forces nursing qualification for Nursing Assistant;
  • graduation or a specified clerical trade qualification for Clerk or DEO;
  • a valid driving licence and experience for Driver; and
  • education or service-trade qualifications for support posts.

Professional appointments may also require valid registration with the relevant medical, dental, nursing or pharmacy council.

A similar-sounding diploma should not automatically be treated as equivalent.

The qualification printed in the advertisement is controlling.

How much experience is required?

Experience requirements vary by post.

Medical, paramedical and support appointments may prescribe different minimum periods.

A candidate should not merely write the total number of years in the application form. The experience certificate should clearly show:

  • name of the organisation;
  • post held;
  • date of joining;
  • date of leaving;
  • nature of duties; and
  • authorised signature and seal.

Where experience is required after a degree, internship or postgraduate qualification, service completed before that stage may not be counted.

How should candidates apply?

The ECHS recruitment portal provides the vacancy advertisements and the prescribed application form.

The broad process is:

  1. Open the official ECHS contractual vacancies page.
  2. Locate the correct Regional Centre.
  3. Open the advertisement carrying an active deadline.
  4. Check the polyclinic and post.
  5. Verify qualification, age, experience and reservation.
  6. Download the prescribed application form.
  7. Complete every relevant field.
  8. Attach self-attested supporting documents.
  9. Place the application in the required envelope.
  10. Submit or send it to the exact address printed in the notice.
  11. Preserve postal, courier or receiving proof.

Applicants should not assume that an email application is acceptable unless the advertisement specifically permits electronic submission.

Where the notice requires two copies of the form, submitting only one may make the application incomplete.

What documents may be required?

Depending on the post, candidates may need copies of:

  • Aadhaar card;
  • PAN card;
  • age proof;
  • Class 10 and Class 12 certificates;
  • degree or diploma;
  • year-wise marksheets;
  • professional registration certificate;
  • experience certificates;
  • discharge book;
  • PPO;
  • release order;
  • ex-serviceman identity card;
  • service record;
  • driving licence;
  • medical fitness certificate;
  • police verification or character certificate;
  • passport-size photographs; and
  • no-objection certificate where applicable.

Candidates should arrange documents in the order indicated in the advertisement or application form.

The post name and polyclinic should be written clearly wherever required.

What should candidates carry for the interview?

Shortlisted candidates may be required to produce original documents during the interview.

These may include:

  • educational certificates;
  • professional degree or diploma;
  • registration certificate;
  • experience records;
  • discharge book;
  • PPO;
  • service documents;
  • identity proof; and
  • recent photographs.

Applicants should carry both originals and organised photocopies.

Several notices state that no travelling allowance or daily allowance will be paid.

Being called for an interview does not guarantee selection. Final appointment may depend on:

  • document verification;
  • interview performance;
  • reservation conditions;
  • medical fitness;
  • availability of the vacancy; and
  • completion of prescribed formalities.
What is the ten-day on-the-job training requirement?

Several ECHS advertisements mention ten days of on-the-job training before the selected candidate signs the employment contract.

This training may be unpaid.

Candidates should confirm:

  • where the training will be conducted;
  • whether accommodation is available;
  • whether any allowance is admissible;
  • who will issue the completion certificate; and
  • what happens if the training is not completed satisfactorily.

A candidate should not assume that the regular monthly remuneration begins from the first day of OJT.

What are the most common reasons for rejection?

An application may be rejected even when the candidate is professionally qualified.

Common reasons include:

  • missing the closing date;
  • ignoring the specified cut-off time;
  • sending the application to the wrong address;
  • applying under an expired advertisement;
  • not mentioning the post or polyclinic;
  • incomplete application form;
  • missing signature or photograph;
  • absence of experience certificates;
  • missing council registration;
  • applying as a civilian against an ex-servicemen-reserved vacancy;
  • submitting the wrong number of copies;
  • failure to attach service documents; and
  • not following the envelope instructions.

Candidates should conduct a final document check before dispatching the application.

Why should applicants avoid relying only on social media?

Social-media posts are useful for alerts but may omit important conditions.

A short post may not reveal:

  • the exact polyclinic;
  • whether the vacancy is reserved;
  • maximum age;
  • required experience;
  • professional registration;
  • salary;
  • submission address;
  • number of copies;
  • interview schedule; or
  • OJT conditions.

Candidates should use a social-media update only to identify an opportunity.

The final application decision must be based on the complete advertisement hosted on the official ECHS portal.

Important deadline warning

Several deadlines are very close.

Candidates should not delay opening the advertisement and arranging documents.

At the same time, they should not rush into submitting an incomplete form merely to meet the deadline.

A complete application sent to the correct address is more valuable than a hurried application that lacks essential documents.

Applicants should also consider postal-delivery time. A form dispatched on the closing date may reach the office after the deadline.

Final takeaway

Sainik Welfare News had previously explained the broader system of ECHS contractual recruitment.

The latest development is the listing of fresh Regional Centre advertisements with application deadlines extending through 14 August 2026.

The current notices include opportunities in:

  • medicine;
  • dentistry;
  • pharmacy;
  • nursing;
  • laboratory work;
  • administration;
  • data entry;
  • driving; and
  • support services.

Candidates must remember three essential points.

First, these are contractual appointments, not permanent government jobs.

Second, there is no single combined rule for every ECHS Regional Centre.

Third, a deadline table or social-media post is not enough. The official advertisement connected with the selected post must be read completely.

An ex-serviceman may possess strong service experience but still lose the opportunity by submitting an incomplete form.

A civilian medical professional may meet the educational requirement but apply against a vacancy reserved for ex-servicemen.

A candidate may also send the application to the Regional Centre office when the notice requires submission to a particular Station Headquarters.

The correct approach is:

  • identify the right Regional Centre;
  • open the latest advertisement;
  • verify the polyclinic and post;
  • check age, qualification and reservation;
  • arrange every required document;
  • submit the application before the cut-off; and
  • retain proof of dispatch or receipt.

ECHS contractual employment can provide meaningful second-career opportunities for veterans and experienced professionals.

The opportunity, however, depends on reading the right notice and completing the application with the same attention to detail expected during military service.
